In this episode, Pastor Jonathan Peinado continues his series on the book of Romans, exploring the third key word that Paul uses in Romans chapter 3 to describe God’s solution to the problem of sin: propitiation.

This message looks at how Paul draws from the imagery of the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat to explain the meaning of Christ’s sacrifice.

What does propitiation really mean? Is it about appeasing God’s wrath, as in pagan religion, or about God Himself providing mercy and atonement? By tracing the connection between the Old Testament sanctuary, the Day of Atonement, and Paul’s language in Epistle to the Hebrews, this episode shows how everything in the sanctuary system ultimately points to Jesus.

The cross reveals that Christ is both the place of atonement and the sacrifice itself. Through His blood, Jesus provides mercy, covering, cleansing, and forgiveness—while also dealing decisively with the reality and penalty of sin. In the end, propitiation reminds us that salvation is God’s work from beginning to end, offered freely by grace and received through faith. ✨✝️
